Chapter 13 - The kennel timeline

Detective Ruiz built the timeline without pretending every unknown was known.

Documented incidents:

Thirty-four days before.

Thirty days.

Twenty-three.

Eighteen.

Eleven.

Nine.

Four.

Three? There were nine clips across five weeks. Let's summarize as eight pre-source plus source.

Some lasted under five minutes.

One could be bounded to at least nine minutes because two clips captured entry and exit timestamps.

Longest exact duration unknown.

No evidence Lily was left overnight.

No evidence she was deprived of food for extended periods.

No evidence Diane struck her body with the stick.

No evidence of sexual abuse.

No evidence of serious prior injury.

Those negatives mattered.

Not to minimize.

To define.

Diane had repeatedly confined Lily in a dog kennel as punishment or behavioral control.

She used noise and physical intimidation.

On at least one prior occasion, she used a chain or tether attached to Lily’s backpack.

On the source day, she placed the chain around Lily’s neck area and pulled her toward the kennel.

That was the most dangerous documented escalation.

Why that day?

Diane said Lily had repeatedly tried to run toward the patio door while asking for me.

A phrase from the video? There was no source-day recording, but witness was Daniel. Fine.

She wanted to stop her.

The chain was within reach because it belonged to the old dog setup.

No preparation?

Maybe.

Police found it normally stored near the kennel.

That supported impulsive escalation more than preplanned torture.

Again.

Grounded.

Terrible enough.
