Chapter 17 - Wilhelmina’s criminal trial begins

Wilhelmina rejected an early plea requiring admission she intentionally used cold-water punishment to compel obedience.
She said:
Security conditioning.
Trial.
The prosecution showed:
Smart-lock logs.
Notebook.
Staff testimony.
Amity’s forensic interview admitted only under appropriate child-witness rules and corroborated heavily by records.
No repeated live testimony if unnecessary.
Then Wilhelmina’s own videos.
One showed Amity shivering.
Wilhelmina’s voice:
“Tell me the address.”
Amity:
“I don’t know.”
“Again.”
Amity crying.
“Stop crying. Think.”
No threat of death.
No graphic abuse.
Still difficult to watch.
Another:
Amity dropping towel.
Wilhelmina:
“Reset.”
Camera ended before water.
Then notebook.
Cold improves recall after consequence.
No professional basis.
Defense presented a security consultant who said stress inoculation exists in adult protective training.
Prosecutor asked:
“Do you recommend pouring ice water on eight-year-olds?”
“No.”
That was enough.
Then confinement.
Defense:
Laundry-room lock existed for security.
Prosecution:
Logs showed it locked during punishments.
Wilhelmina kept key.
Amity could not leave.
Then signature authorization.
She admitted creating document.
“I summarized authority Valerian already gave me.”
Prosecutor:
“Why paste his signature?”
“To show authorization source.”
“Why not attach original?”
No good answer.
