Chapter 12 - The assault case

Wilhelmina faced criminal charges related to Amity.
The prosecutor chose narrow counts that evidence supported.
Child-endangerment/abuse-related charges for cold-water punishments.
Unlawful confinement-type count for locked laundry-room incidents.
No torture charge.
No kidnapping.
No attempted murder.
She had not nearly killed Amity.
Then my copied signature on the child emergency authorization.
Document-forgery/fraud review.
Forensic examiner determined:
Signature image came from a legitimate PDF I signed seven months earlier.
The new authorization was assembled later.
Who made it?
Metadata:
Cross Atelier administrative laptop.
User profile:
Wilhelmina.
Strong.
Then her lawyer argued:
She had broad authorization and created an internal protocol document merely summarizing existing authority.
Could that defeat forgery intent?
Maybe.
Prosecutors investigated.
No instant charge until intent clear.
Then construction lien.
Civil.
Not criminal just because overstated.
Mechanic’s liens frequently contain disputed amounts.
To prove criminal fraud, more needed than aggressive billing.
So criminal case stayed focused on Amity and signature misuse.
Property dispute moved elsewhere.
Specific systems.
Then my diversion.
I started anger-management sessions with a therapist who had no interest in being impressed by my name.
He asked:
“What did dumping the bucket accomplish?”
“It humiliated her.”
“Was that the goal?”
“Yes.”
“And how is that different from what she did to Amity?”
May you like
I disliked him.
That was probably why he was useful.
