Chapter 21 - My final governance hearing

The independent governance monitor issued his final recommendations.

I wanted Genevieve removed forever.

That was emotional.

Kessler recommended:

Five-year suspension from family-council voting.

No fiduciary role over any descendant’s assets during suspension.

Right to receive her own trust distributions unchanged.

Possible reinstatement after:

Probation completion.

Financial-accounting compliance.

No new misconduct.

Independent suitability review.

Why not permanent?

Because trust documents did not authorize permanent economic exile for this conduct.

Good.

Then me.

Recommendation:

Remain CEO/chair subject to:

Independent lead director.

Annual suitability review.

No unilateral appointment of family successors.

No family member under eighteen given ceremonial succession title.

No related-party governance settlement without independent committee approval.

My own assault conviction noted.

My reputation noted.

I accepted.

Some cousins called it weakness.

I called it getting banks to stop asking whether two children were fighting over a company.

Then board vote.

Passed.

Genevieve’s suspension passed.

No one cheered.

Felix’s name disappeared from succession schedules.

Primrose’s did too.

Children were removed from leadership lists entirely.

Future development program would begin at eighteen only if they volunteered.

That was perhaps the best outcome.
