Chapter 15 - Genevieve changes her story

At first Genevieve said:
The Stewardship Designation was valid.
Then:
It was reconstructed from a valid original.
Then:
Adrian reconstructed it without telling her details.
Then:
She knew it was reconstructed but believed Dominic’s intent made it enforceable.
Then:
Schedule F was irrelevant.
Her story evolved with evidence.
That hurt.
At deposition, Avery asked:
“Did you instruct your assistant to exclude Schedule F?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“I believed it did not apply.”
“Why did you write that including it would ‘kill the story’?”
Genevieve paused.
“Because Benedict’s lawyers would misread it.”
Then:
“Did you know Adrian attached Dominic’s scanned signature to an unsigned draft?”
“I knew he had reconstructed the document from family files.”
“That is not my question.”
Silence.
“Yes.”
“Did Dominic sign that combined document?”
“No.”
There.
Then:
“Did Felix know you were using his custodial assets for this litigation?”
“He is ten.”
“So no?”
“No.”
“Did you believe the litigation increased your own governance authority?”
“Yes.”
“Did you believe that also benefited Felix?”
“Yes.”
That was her defense.
Mother and son interests aligned.
Maybe partly.
But custodial law does not become:
Whatever benefits Mom eventually benefits child.
Then birthday.
“Why tell Primrose Felix would replace her?”
Genevieve looked down.
“I was angry.”
“Did you believe that statement was legally accurate?”
Long pause.
“No.”
There.
Not even her own belief.
She knowingly lied to a six-year-old at her birthday to wound me.

The legal case was becoming simpler.
The family case was getting worse.
