Chapter 11 - One threat was real

The investigation did not end with:
Belladonna invented everything.
The black SUV was staged.
The photographs staged.
The package staged.
But two months earlier, Costello Group security had logged a separate incident Belladonna had not created.
A man attempted to enter a restricted parking level using a false contractor credential.
He was stopped.
He claimed mistake.
Police later connected him to someone with a documented grudge against one of my companies.
No direct evidence he targeted Eira.
Still:
A real security concern.
Then an online message:
Costello can hide behind gates. His blood can’t.
That one predated Belladonna’s first staged photograph.
Source unresolved.
So Belladonna had not invented the concept of danger from nothing.
She took an existing risk and inflated it.
That distinction mattered.
Her defense became:
“I did what Valerian refused to do because danger was real.”
Danger can be real.
Fabricating evidence is still fabrication.
Dr. Moore said the same principle applied to Eira.
A child in my world may genuinely need enhanced safety education.
That does not justify terrorizing her.
Then Caleb’s team.
Independent review found weaknesses.
Preschool perimeter visibility.
Vendor credential process.
Information sharing.
Belladonna’s unauthorized test exposed some real gaps.
Again:
Wrong method.
Some accurate findings.
We corrected them without adopting her scheme.
Preschool security coordination improved.
Credential standards tightened.
No secret simulated threats without written independent approval.
No security test involving Eira’s image unless ethically and legally reviewed.
No family partner acting as both threat source and solution vendor.
Then Atlas Sentinel.
Damian withdrew proposal.
Not because his company necessarily lacked capability.
Because conflict had poisoned procurement.
Another firm won a narrower supplemental contract after competitive review.
Cost:
$610,000 annually for specific services.
No relocation.
No Price Haven lease.
Eira stayed home.

Real risk addressed.
Belladonna’s argument that only her structure could protect Eira collapsed.
